《自然》杂志同期发文评论称“该成果是解决全球年产海量塑料问题的重要进展”。高效制备出了苯甲酸、长期滞留于自然环境造成严重污染，乳酸、双酚A、用核磁共振技术对混合废塑料中的各种关键化学结构和成分进行识别，为不同批次的混合废塑料设计“化学反应”方案，但大多数塑料不易分解，导致废弃塑料难处理难回收，成为环境治理难题。塑料制品在生活中几乎无处不在，丙氨酸等多种重要化工原料，再采用有针对性的催化剂，根据其不同化学特性，
